A PERSONAL TALK WITH OUR

INDIVIDUAL READERS

By C.W. Wood                                                       May 2013

Because I have not been able to keep up with sending a personal letter to our readers, in response to your letters and gifts, I felt led to write you in this manner.  It is a way to thank you personally, as well as give you a report on the work as it has progressed here for the last few years.  As most of you know, my wife, who was my life-time sweetheart, will have been with the Lord five years this December.  She was 83 when she changed her dwelling place and started her journey into Eternity.  As you can realize, life suddenly in one night’s time, took on a drastic change!  We had been together for 67 years, counting the two years we dated before marriage.  She was not only the mother of my three daughters, but she was my spiritual advisor, my best friend, my sweetheart, my bookkeeper, and one of the best house-keepers and cooks in this part of the country.  Then one Sunday night, after we had come home from church and had eaten supper, in ten or fifteen minutes then  she was gone into that other dimension that we call Heaven!  She had not been sick, and as far as I know had not been even feeling bad.  Only the Lord knows what an empty void is left in one’s life when a precious loved one is taken.  I know that some of our readers have experienced a similar situation, and have suffered that awesome feeling of loneliness!  And, there is only one source of relief from it, and that is that the Lord Jesus Himself must come and fill the void!  It is good when some can find another help-mate and remarry, but that has not been the answer for me.  I have prayed and asked the Lord to become more a part of my life than ever before, and He is answering my request!  Where once I thought I was totally dedicated to Christ, I now see areas that need much improving.  Because of His mercy, love, and power, these changes are being made.  I will be 88 in July, and am being led to trust Him to renew my strength as the eagle.  It will only be by His strength if I stay to finish the work He has allotted to me.  Also, it will only be by the help of you faithful readers who have, year after year, continued to be a part of this ministry.  My heart goes out to each of you.  Some I have never met and I look forward to a glorious time of getting acquainted, when we are getting together before we go up.

Our little church here in DeWitt has been able, by God’s grace, to survive all the wiles of the Devil, and continue to meet together since 1970 (43 years).  We started meeting in our homes, and then in 1981 rented the building that we still meet in.  Some of those who were charter members are still with us and some are not.  As of the writing of this letter, we have 8 people coming regularly, plus a visitor or two once in awhile.  When asked if our church is growing, I always reply, “Yes, not in numbers, but in the Spirit!”  If we had all the people who have come to investigate us in the last 43 years, our crowd would number in the hundreds.  But we have come to understand that the Bride of every age has been in a small minority only.  And so, with this pattern set before us, we continue to preach and teach that everyone who desires may come and Drink of the water of Life freely!  Our message is, “God has no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, therefore turn yourselves and live.” (Ezekiel 18:32)  We speak for our Lord when we say, “As I live saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live.  Turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways, for why will you die…” (Ezekiel 33:11)

In this year of 2013, I have been busy getting my office back in order.  It had become somewhat disorderly after my help-mate went home.  And I realized that I will not be around forever myself.  Something that a good Christian lady said to me one day in a restaurant downtown started me to thinking.  She asked, “Do you have a stockpile of sermons that could continue to be published in our local paper, after you are gone?”   My answer was, “No, I write the sermons each week, and try to get it to the publishing office before the deadline for that week.”  Apparently, this dear lady had been reading the newspaper sermons for many years and wanted them to continue.  Her remarks encouraged me very much.

In a filing cabinet in my office I had a pile of weekly newspaper sermons that I had just thrown in there over a period of 30 years.  There was somewhere around 1500 of them in all.  I had the thought of going through them all, putting them in order according to date and filing them in folders, so as to be easily pulled out and re-read or re-printed.  This I have now done with the help of a secretary.  Also, I had 120 notebooks, each one with 3 to 5 sermons in them.  But, they were scattered all over my office, filed in drawers and on shelves, and when I needed the Scriptures and quotes from a certain sermon, it was hard to locate it.  Now, I realize that you computer experts can just push buttons and the information is at your finger-tips.  But, I am not a computer person and do not plan to enter that field.  Although, I am thankful for the use the Lord had made of them.

And so, I have built shelves in my office and arranged all my sermon notebooks in order, according to titles and dates preached, so that they are easily accessed.  And, again this was done with the help of a secretary.  Another project that I saw needed attention was my monthly sermons that had accumulated since 1995.  They were in disorderly piles, and when I needed to refer to them to answer questions that the people ask, it was hard to find the sermons that already had the Scriptures and quotes that answered the question.  And now, they are filed in orderly fashion, with an index catalog that lists all sermons and the number of the book it is found in.  I do not say that anything will come of the work after I am gone, but we serve an orderly God, and now I feel much better about my life’s work.  The material in my office represents almost 50 years of study and prayer concerning God’s Word.  Forty-six of those 50 years have been in The End-Time Message.  Even so, we still have plenty of room to grow in knowledge, wisdom and revelation!

And so, my message to my readers is the same one that God gave to our Prophet.  Though the Lord has tarried His coming, there I desperate need to stay closer to His bleeding side!  This is no time to grow lax, nor give over to any strange doctrine!  To live in this world that has become Satan’s Eden will drain our faith out, and unless we are replacing it daily, we will run out!  I have been recently re-studying Br. F. F. Bosworth’s book  Christ the Healer.”  It has been on my bookshelf for years, but now, in these very evil, faith-draining days, it has helped my wavering faith so much.  I recommend it to all our readers.  He preached Divine Healing the same as Br. Branham did, as far as I can tell.  I don’t believe you can study the Scriptural teaching found in it without your faith being raised to a higher level!  Orders can be placed through “World Outreach Publications” – P.O. Box 4402 – Dallas, TX 75208.  Order it, read it, and discover that it is always God’s will to heal His sick Children, when we meet His conditions.  And the basic, foundational, condition is to simply believe that He wants to do it!

Br. Bosworth told a parable in his book that I will share with you. A multimillionaire spoke to a congregation of 1000 people and made the statement that he was “able” to give each one of them a gift of $1000!  But their knowledge that he “could give” the money if he wanted to, did not give them the faith to know that they, as individuals, were going to get the gift.  If they had been asked if they would soon have the money, they might have answered, “I hope so, I need the money, but I don’t know for sure if the man is going to give the money.  He only said, “He could,   But we don’t know for sure that he will.

But now, what if that man was a reputable citizen, and known for his honesty and that he always keeps his word.  And what if he said, “If each one of you will leave your name and address with my secretary at the door as you leave, we will put your check in the mail, and you will have it shortly.”  Then the people would have reason to believe that the money was as good as theirs!  But again, to make a point, what if the rich man had said, all of you leave your names and we will put them in a box and draw 500 of them out, and those will receive $1000?  They still could not testify for certain that they would receive the money!  Now, what if our God was a respecter of persons and that it was only His Will to heal some of those who are sick and needy?  How could we know which group we were in, and how could we know that the Gift of Healing was for us all who needed it?  I would have to know that my Father wanted me, Charles William Wood, to be healed when I needed it, and so let’s look into the Gospels and see that Jesus healed all that came to Him, believing!

Jesus Healed All Diseases: “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching and preaching the gospel….and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.  And His fame went throughout all Syria: and they bought unto Him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and He healed them all (Moffat’s translation).  And there followed Him a great multitude of people from Galilee and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.”  (Matthew 4:23-25)

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching…and preaching the gospel…and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.  But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with   compassion   on them….And when He had called unto Him His twelve disciples, He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.” (Matthew 9:35-36; 10:1)

But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew   Himself   from thence: and great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all.” (Matthew 12:15)

“And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion toward them, and He healed their sick.” (Matthew 14:14)

And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.  And when the men of that place had knowledge of Him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto Him all that were diseased; and besought Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.” (Matthew 14:34-36)

“And a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear Him, and to be healed of their diseases; and they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.  And the whole multitude sought to touch Him: for there went virtue out of Him, and He healed them all.” (Luke 6:17-19)

“Is any sick among you, let him call and be healed.” (James 5:14)

My heart goes out to all of God’s Children who are sick!  I know that the good doctors have done all they know to do, yet some of you are not well.  I have been in that group myself, and have received help from the Master, and by His mercy and grace, I am still at my post of duty.  I wanted to write you personally and tell you that, having been where some of you are, I know how to intercede for you in believing prayer.  It is a great privilege to receive your prayer requests.  We know that God has commanded us to “Pray one for another.” (James 5:14)  So we ask this question, “Would God tell us to pray for each other when it is not His Will to heal us when we believe?”  The answer is, “Certainly Not!”  So, let this fact remove any doubt in your mind concerning His Will to heal you personally!  When you fully understand that it is His Will and plan to heal you, then your healing is on the way!

When the great question mark has been removed from our minds, which has been as follows, “Is healing from God for everybody?” and that doubt replaced with the firm, steady, never changing Word of God, it is then that faith for our healing has found its solid anchor that no Devil can move!  When Peter was called to the house of Cornelius to show unto him and the church there, the things that were commanded them by God, he made the following statement, which beautifully describes the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus!  “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power; who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the Devil, for God was with Him.”  (Acts 10:38)

Here again, we have the Will of God revealed for divine healing of our bodies!  It is this writers firm conviction that a large part of our failure to believe God for divine healing has been our inability to understand how great His love and mercy is for His Children!  It’s hard for us to understand a love that never waivers, even when we are failures in so many things in our daily walk.  May this revelation overtake us, swallow us up, and change our doubts about Him into pure love!

Then faith that “worketh by love” will be present!  We here at DeWitt Tabernacle love each one of you and thank you with our whole heart.  Amen.
